PhewNope, don't worry it's all of us
Aww im sorry.Took Fanta and Pikelet to the garden centre. She stared getting nervous when we where getting close to the areashe saw one of the screens and ran to hide. She was less nervous with Fanta there and me throwing a toy around helped! But it still took a while before she started getting confident again, shorter then last time but still long
so she definitely has washed outnow itās decided if we are going to keep her or not
not sure she would be good for dog sports she is scared of people and other dogsso it would be a up hill struggle to get her comfortable in a dog event environment
For a pet, she is a cute and funny dog but some of her behaviour that could be mostly puppy or could be spaniel stress both me and my mother. she isnāt exactly low energy eitherI will needed to look at getting a Fanta āreplacementā once Fanta is about 5 or 6 years old (which isnāt that old) unless I get a spare AD then I can push it back more. But that means I would have 4-5 year old Pikelet, 5-6 year old Fanta and a high energy puppy
which is a lot of dogs! Not even including lazy Twiggy who I still need to do somethings with and the food cost!
my one brother has offered to take Pikelet once she is older but he doesnāt really like dogs much and I donāt think he would get along that well with her
It is a very hard decision!
Its best to rehome younger, but you can rehome at whatever age. I do hope she can stay with family so you can atleast stil see her.I will contact her breeder if nobody in the family will end up keeping her, its still in the decision phase. I really donāt want to rehome her but logically it seems the best option
we will probably wait until she is older before deciding but I am not sure if its best to rehome as young as possible or wait until the puppy matures more?
My Goldens have lots of energy. Denver can usally be handled by my 8 year old sister. But she has been not listening. I think i know whats going on but. Shes almost 2. Im going back to basic training with her.Haha! They're all great dogs. Training makes all of the difference. All the stories about labs and other retrievers being too hyper is just from people who don't have trained dogs and use them being too hyper as an excuse. Avery was perfectly calm by a year old and could be handled by a small child, my five year old brother could work her and she would behave perfectly for him or anybody. Our other dogs of course would too but Avery's mine and she's who I trained and have the most experience with. The other dogs are family dogs and the newest one is my sister's. All of our dogs are one or two years apart.
Sure! I don't have the best pics but I'll post some. I just got a new phone so I've been playing with the camera on it a bunch. The puppies are all in a kennel outside right now.
Im confused to.Glad itās not just me![]()
Oh goshIm confused to.
So cute!!!Nala - our goofy 2 year old female Great Dane
Ronnie - our anxious little 9 year old male cocker spaniel![]()
Mental stimulation and/or teaching a place or settle command should help hugely with the hyperness. Plus chew toys. Lots of chews lol Brew could easily go go go and he was a bit of a terror as a puppy, still is sometimes, but he (mostly) knows now when itās time to just chill out and grab a chew or go lay down. And heās happy with a short sniffing walk, romp on the marsh, or a game of fetch. But even if we donāt do anything some days he knows he needs to chill because I taught it. He doesnāt like it but he eventually chills out. But those days where we do nothing are extremely rare. We usually always play fetch at least. Itās only when Iām like really really sick that we donāt. But even then, I usually try to do something with him. But yeah. Calmness needs to be taught or else they wonāt chill on their own. Brew could hike for miles if I asked him to or he can do nothing if I need him too. He used to be what I would consider hyper but heās not now.My Goldens have lots of energy. Denver can usally be handled by my 8 year old sister. But she has been not listening. I think i know whats going on but. Shes almost 2. Im going back to basic training with her.
Then Tucker can be handled by anybody. But when given the chance he will go after any bird or run to his hearts content.
Both of them know basic commands plus more.
I do use hyper because Tucker has so much energy, i can throw a ball 30 times and he will retriever every one. Then take a 20 minute nap and have all the energy again. Plus puzzle toys.
Avery sounds like the perfect pup!
