I all most forgot its puppy stack day! We are practicing hand stacking now, to get her used to her feet being handled and for foot awareness

Why do people want GSD and malinoise to be bred for herding so much. nobody would really use them for herding they are much more useful as police and protection dogs! There are also the other Belgian shepherds that do the same style of herding and aren’t really used for anything else

I'd actually like to see GSD's and malinois herding . Although at this point I don't know if they'd be able to herd much

Nothing wrong with that! Some people are saying they don’t think they should be bred for anything but herding, that its not the purpose for the breed

I agree that their purpose has changed over time. Nowadays, the focus being on protection (although most GSD I've met are chickenshits), I fear that they're losing those herding instincts.

I wouldn’t consider most GSDs to be a herding dog, nobody is calling giant schnauzers herding dogs

looking at the history that is slightly different everywhere it doesn’t seem like the creator of GSDs really wanted them for herding, they could herd but wasn’t the mean focus of the breeding program. It just seems to be the landrace the GSDs came from where herding dogs. I could be very wrong about that though

Im not saying they should be. Im saying these people commenting on GSDs don’t comment on those other breeds. That said, I don’t see what’s wrong with breeding for pets as long as it’s ethically done. I mean, after all, a pet is most dog’s biggest purpose.
