Dog thread!🐾

She tries rolling sometimes, but she's bad at it and often misses. Occasionally she hits her target, and gets her bath, but not too often.
Well, Bosties aren't the sharpest tools in the box. 😂

Shorty was raised on Puppy Chow because she came eating it, and had Giardia so I didn't need to upset the system anymore than it was already. She now eats Dog Chow Little Bites. She also gets a bit of canned in the morning. She's so shiny, and muscular. Surprised me with the results. She's the reason I stayed with Dog Chow, and I haven't looked back. I've tried all kinds of foods, and here we are. My dogs don't shed like they used to, and the doggy odors are gone. Don't know what it is, but I like it.
Dog Chow, huh? That's great and not what I would have expected! Dorie's been on so many different foods, including a couple from Purina, and I haven't been happy with any of them. No obvious coat or skin issues, just endless GI issues.

Hi! Im looking for some advice on training two dogs.
dog 1- hagrid, about 8 yrs old, doodle, big teddy bear, had him since june of last year
dog 2- marshmellow, about 4 yrs old, american eskimo mix, a real pistol, got her about two months ago
You have only had Marshmellow for 2 months so she still is settling in

issues:
-Hagrid is a follower apparently and has anxiety already. He feeds off her energy and isnt listening as well as he used to.
by not listening what do you mean? Are they not pay attention to you everywhere or specific places?

she listens, but gets bored very easily and is VERY skittish.
it will take time! Everything is still very new to her and she is learning, dog training takes time some dogs pick up on things quickly others need more time. I wouldn’t expect too much from her at the moment, give her more time to bond with you and settle in

-one listens, the other causes distractions. They take turns in this.
are you doing training sessions with only one at a time? If not then thats one place to start

the other things you could try

-settling together
teach them to go to their beds, separately at first. Then do it with both dogs together (You can separate them with a gate at first)

-if you have a extra person you can try going on a walk with both dogs, the aim would be that they sniff and ignore each other

-play with the dogs when they are together and when they aren’t

-treats every time the pay attention to you when they are together

you might need to do these things with 1 dog at a time then try with both
- i can train one dog at a time, but not two! 😨
thanks in advance!

I hope this helps!

I hardly ever wash Shorty. She has zero odor, except for occasional gas, and she hardly ever sheds. She's so clean. Once in a while I wet down a wash cloth and wipe her down. All my Boston mixes are pretty clean overall. I would buy the bathrobe just for fun though.
Makes sense!!!

I LOVE the Chow lines and Purina in general lol Brew grew up on Puppy Chow (and other brands we tried) and did best on Puppy Chow. We did Dog Chow for a bit too but he didn’t really like it that much. Then we tried Purina One chicken and rice which he LOVED but now he’s on Purina One Plus Healthy Weight High Protein because he’s a little chunky LOL

Out of curiosity, which ones have you tried and how long? I’ve recently learned it can take up to 12 weeks for the old food to clear out of the system.

Have you guys heard of the new dog illness? I think its only in Canada and the USA at the moment 🙁 I am really hoping it doesn’t spread to other countries

Its super close to me. The reason im buckled down and my dogs arent playing with other dogs. Its sad that its killing dogs😕
