Dog up the road and the loss of a JG

If I was the dog owner, I would rather have a dog with a sore bum, or even with a ball bearing in it's bum than a dead dog.
However, you are right to mention the law might see it differently.
That why I want a pellets gun or something. Even just the noise itself without the injury itself is enough to scare if not then I’d rathole hit with a pellet gun than killed if it works

We are looking at the pricing for electric fence with this solar power since we have no power outlets outside of the house. We were just looking for something in the meantime. I called animal control a few minutes ago so I could find out the exact laws in fines for the county so maybe if I threatened them with these things that can put it to an end. Just like when their kid was tearing up our dirt road with his four wheeler and they didn’t want to do anything about it I let them know that technically the dirt road is private property and I can have the police come remove him since it’s considered trespassing. Apparently that spoke to them and it stopped
We don't have electric out where our coop is, since it's mobile, but I have used Gallagher's Garden Fence kit with some success. Battery powered electric fencing. Keeps the deer out at any rate.

In my opinion, acting in what could be an aggressive manner toward your child is a game changer. If you are not able to take care of it yourself (legally or due to your own convictions - no judgment here), it’s time to get law enforcement involved. I don’t know where you live, how close your neighbors’ houses are, your local laws or comfortable you or your husband are with firearms. You have to decide that.

As far as electric fencing goes, a single strand fence can be put up in a few hours. There are solar powered fencers and fencers that are run off a car battery. It’s a very effective deterrent. It doesn’t have to be fancy to work until you can get something more to your liking put up.

But the original post wasn’t meant to cause debate on shooting a dog but just suggestions on what to do in this situation such as this
Unfortunately dog threads always ends up in a heated debate between the extreme factions. SMH. Such a waste of time and rarely helps the OP.

When I talked to the animal control guy this morning he said that if I have some kind of proof there is a fine for killing poultry bit those laws look a little more in depth. But to get proof means I have to lose another chicken in them not letting that happen
But you do have a witness in your neighbor, would that be enough? If it were me, since this dog is friendly towards you, I would simply take him down to animal control every time I found him on my property. Leave the owners an anonymous note in their mailbox, telling them the dog is at the shelter. They'll have to pay a fine to pick him up, that may have an effect.

When it comes to shooting and not shooting a dog I think that has to do with situation by situation. I did not witness it happening and until the barking and running at my daughter this morning has not shown aggression towards us. And I don’t even know if he was being aggressive this morning or just being the energetic dog he is. If I had witnessed it and showed aggression towards everyone I might feel differently. Every situation is different. But the original post wasn’t meant to cause debate on shooting a dog but just suggestions on what to do in this situation such as this
The debate of shooting the dog started when so many wants to just shoot the dog When it's not the dogs fault, it's the owners. If one can't get the owners to understand what they are doing is wrong and make the owners pay for what has happened, it won't end. The killing of an innocent dog being a dog does not get hit these kinds of owners. They will just get another dog that still won't be trained.

And ... your willing to shoot a person, but not take them to court and "make them pay"???

To The OP ... definitely start a "paper trail" by reporting every incident ...
