Dog used pullets as a toy.. Help!

One thing about the stuff you applied...you should read the active ingredient to make sure it doesn't have lidocaine or any other *caine* family as you are not supposed to use it on birds.....good luck

klf73 - I didn;t know what Thanks but I read the bottles and one is Furazolidone and the other is Camphorated phenol

I hope you werent referring to my post - I wasnt negative or non-supportive by any means at all. I was responding based on the OP stating they were going to leave the birds alone in their carrier, and not wanting to touch them or having any type of supplies to clean them. As many others stated, these birds need medical attention by someone - either the OP or her grandfather, which is what I stated. Having birds or any animal means you have a responsibility to them, not leave them in a carrier without any attention, sorry - thats not being negative or mean.

I hope your birds are doing much better today since your Grandfather looked at them. Prayers that they make it through this.

There was another thread going in the Buy/Sell/Trade that got a little nasty....I just wanted the OP to know that for the most part, this forum is a wonderful community.

Just so you all know I'm not neglecting them! In fact they are in my "medical ward" the bathroom, closed in and warm, have recieved medical attention and the "nurse's aid"me has been going in often to give water, check on the wound, give meds, clean up BM's , feed( well attempt to feed) and just make sure that their living envrionment is comfortable.

UPDATE: One pullet(Henny) has pulled through, walks around and takes drinks by herself, won't eat yet, but things are looking up for her!
As for the other one(Penny) she's not looking so good. Sleeping all day, I have seen her move around thoguh. I have to force water in her beak, and even though she still puttin up a fight, I don't think she will make it.

Actually, in your case, it's best to interfere as little as possible. So you're doing the right thing. When chickens are hurt as badly as yours were, even tame chickens, human interaction stresses them out. Treat the wounds and leave them alone (unless they're not eating and drinking, that just complicates everything).

But they survived the first night? Good. That's a good sign. Keep doing what you're doing. Give them Hypericum, it'll help with pain and depression and it may even stimulate an appetite. Also, if you can, let them hear their flock mates. Happy bird sounds encourage a will to survive. And offer green foods. They seem to accept those more willingly.

Penny has just passed.

She's not suffering anymore, thanks for all your prayers. Please keep praying from Henny. she's drink alot now and walking all over the place.

too bad, keep an eye on the other one, sometimes when they heal, the injured area skin dried and shrunk and gave them some movements difficulties. Clip all the feathers around the wound so you can monitor it better.

yep, i had to put the food and water up highier so she could get it. she can't move all the way to the ground. I figured it was stiff or hurt too bad,
PLEASE give me some suggestions on how/ what to feed her. she wont eat. I really hate to force feed her, I will if I must. Do you think I should put sugar in her water? HELP!!!
