Dominique Thread!

We're still in the process of scaling down before winter. It was a tough decision, but we sold "Bubbles 2" our Dominique. I still love Doms but this one didn't have the same "look at me" personality. She laid fine & was pretty but personality mean more when your flock consists of pets. I think we'll try again in spring to find a smart, curious, outgoing Dom. In the meantime, I'll visit this thread when I need my Dom fix. (I will truly miss the soft feel & smell of Dom feathers.)

Here are my 3 Dom girls and 1 cockerel that are 23 weeks old today.

There is just something so beautiful about the U-Shape back on Dominiques -- can't wait to see the beautiful U your cockerel will develop. Something so regal and commanding without being bullies -- my girls command the flock and there is a pecking order but they aren't combative. It's so nice to have people-friendly birds that love to be touched, petted, held, and conversationalists too!

We call these guys the football team. Current job is getting ground ready for being a garden next year. They also help dogs eat a deer carcass. They are kind of pretty when roaming the front yard.

Not just kinda pretty -- they're absolutely GORGEOUS! TY for your pic!

Good shape. Ugly comb though.

Do you have females with nice tight combs to breed him to?

Yes, but I cannot tell by looking at a hen what type of comb her sons will have. As offensive as the big combs are, they are a better indicator of overall health than the tight and smooth combs like the better Voter-line birds have.

Type and growth current major concerns for breeding pens. Still a few years off before getting serious about particulars of comb shape as it will be easier than the other attributes.
