lol Kazooie will do that too, she likes to jump but her aim is not as good as she thinks, makes a pretty loud smack when she slams into the side of the scratch bucket.
My mum keeps meal worms as chicken treats. My chickens beg worse then either of my dogs, and that's saying something. I wish I had a picture of it but when my speckled Sussex were pullets we gave them half a water melon because it was warm out and it would make a good teat. The chickens hollowed out the melon and one of the Sussex pullet managed to flip the hollowed out melon skin over on top of herself.
yes, chickens will eat food even if they don't really like it... I threw some orange pulp in a bowl and set it down just to watch them. They'd eat some, wipe their beaks on the ground, like they would say "EWW!" Then they'd go right back for more!
I can't resist their pitiful 'lil looks they give me..I end up giving them half, or all of what I was eating.
You may be on to something here. The chicken diet! You have to eat all meals in front of your chickens. After you get done taking care of the beggars, you get to eat what is left....which will be about nothing
My girls beg just as bad if not worse then the dog. (The dog is out numbered) The girls see you coming and rush over to you to see what you have.

spoiled rotten chickens --- is'nt it wonderful --- my ladies get " snack trays " a couple times a week - no salt can corn, sliced beets , oats , pasta --- and if I go out there even with a cup of coffee they start begging ...
