Not at all. Following the constitution should never entail having "different ideas about what supporting it means". It's written there, in black and white, and leaves nothing to interpretation. Either you support following the constitution as it was written, or you do not. On this, there is no "gray". You dont support the right to free speech, but oppose the right to gun ownership. Even if you do oppose one of the rights listed in the constitution, you would need to have an amendment passed by the public, not the back door politics which are currently tearing the constitution to shreds. So, you support following the constitution to the letter, and changing it in the ONLY way prescribed, or you do not, simple as that. And nearly every person that DOES support the constitution as written and intended, would certainly not be offended by the flag, or the tea parties principles.

It's 2010. How long ago was the constitution written? And all Americans STILL don't have the rights guaranteed in the constitution. If you're going to be a fundamentalist about it.....

How hypocritical it is to say "don't tread on me" while denying others their rights!

So what rights are being Denied?

"The Tea Party Movement Ecosystem is a collection of individuals and self-organizing groups all united in accomplishing a single goal: returning fiscal responsibility and limited government to the United States through the exercise of political activism. It consists of the 1 million plus individuals who attended the 900 tea parties held across the country on April 15, and the millions more who believe in the noble cause of saving our republic from socialism today. Each individual and group within this ecosystem determines where they want to place their focus, and works independently to accomplish their own unique goals, but communicates and collaborates with every other individual and group within the ecosystem, so that we are all moving the ball forward to achieve the objective that unites us all -- returning fiscal responsibility to all levels of government in the United States."

And yet, listen to the speeches given at Tea Parties that call for violence to members of congress, fearmongering about "death camps" and loss of rights. This is not a noble cause, this is deliberately misleading people and "pot stirring."

No, no reason at all why anyone who supports the constitution would be offended by the tea-party's principals.

Highly offensive images removed. Don't do that again.

Agreed.

It amuses me how many teabaggers support the AFA, the organization that has done more to take away freedom of speech than any other group in the US.

This is where you get into interpretation. The constitution was written over 200 years ago by a committee of statesmen, all of which had differing opinions on how things should go. The Constitutional Congress went through as much compromise, rigmarole, hi-jinks and what have you as the current congress does. Knowing what was intended is a matter of interpretation. One thing that we are sure was indented is that the Constitution is supposed to be a living document that changes with the needs of the Nation. That is why the system of amendments was created.

There is an entire branch of government that was created specifically to deal with the fact that the Constitution would need to be "interpreted" because of purposefully ambiguous wording. That branch is called the Supreme Court.

The constitution, and associated amendments, is not cut and dried, nor is it easy to read.

I don't think it will replace old Glory. The american flag is a large symbol for our struggles, our victories, our hardships and our faith in this county. I know it's been a rough number of years but why should we let that tear down what so many people died for? All of these ignorant people threatening to kill the president, throwing around empty threats and stupid crap, they are rubbing the soldiers face in the ground. They need to do things civily. I think the american flag needs to fly a little higher and be more popular, not replaced.

It's the same thing that happened when Bush was in office and those of us who didn't agree with the war in Iraq were told we were unamerican and not patriots.

I like this one:
