I find the show entertaining at times.Shame I can't afford one of those cool bunkers,but I suppose I am ahead of others by having some preps in place.

One reason I started stocking was when both my kids got sick at the same time,and I had no way to get some more food,drink,and meds.So now I like to keep extra on hand.Another time the electric was off for 3 days.Lost the gas for 5 days due to a leak.Had to find alternative ways to meal prep and wash up. The government preps for the unlikey,so why is it so crazy for individuals to do so?

I would not want to eat my chickens,but in the end I would.It is how it should be when you have the rotation of young and old.My elderly neighbors all tell me that is what they did..For now though I guess I am running a hen nursing home!

If we had extra cash dh would go for gadgets,computers,and such. Me, I would want to get a water filter,rocket stove,or even some extra seeds!

So true about the black death/middle ages. Just watched a movie on it.The church would torture you until you confessed,and then kill you anyway!

90 days of supplies is my goal.Then another 90 and so on.I will be happy with atleast 90.Many people don't even have a weeks worth of food.Look at how some after Sandy had to resort to dumpster diving.

I thought it would be interesting if they came back to some of the people that lived in areas hit by Sandy and showed how well or poorly they did. I think it would be a great way to see how well all of thier preparation worked out. I realize it's not as bad as the "doomsday" scenarios that drive most of the people on there, but the devestation was still pretty bad.

I came across one Y tuber who did talk about how his preps worked out during Sandy.It was very interesting to watch his reviews of products,and his observations of human behavior around him once panic set in after people realised *help* was indeed not on its way. I thought it was quite sad/funny that there was a *Closed Due to Weather* sign on the FEMA building in that area.How pathetic of them!

fools.I think they are all fools. one earthquake,one to stop up the air valves for those underground dwellers,one drop of sarin gas.how can anyone prepare for these?I saw some dude underground saying that anyone that comes under he will shoot them.Well mr smart guy,how is your air supply getting in? Ill start there and stuff it with cotton soaked with bleach and lite it on fire.Either you all will come out coughing,or you will be dead in a matter of minutes. doomsday tombs.

And I think you're an arrogant goofball who only looks at stereotypes and extreme examples. The *vast* majority of preppers don't do the bunker BS, but they're the ones who end up on biased TV shows that like to portray an entire group as idiots. You fell for it. The average prepper home looks like any other house, the difference being that they have food, water, medicine, and ammunition, along with ways to produce more food and obtain more water.

You did an excellent job of smearing a huge group of perfectly sane, prepared citizens by acting as though they all live in bunkers, an opinion which you apparently obtained from a TV show whose sole purpose at this point is to send the message, "If you're concerned about the future, you're an idiot!"

So sitting here watching this show and they are raising their chickens for eggs and meat as a backup plan incase of disaster. I think it's a great idea but I just couldn't do that to my chickens as I see them as pets not food. lol. Has anyone else ever seen this show?

I am watching a UK version of the preppers show.Interesting to see what people are doing across the pond.Seems less odd than the U.S. version,but at the same time the background music makes it out to seem like they are crazy.Stil interesting.

When I read about the doomsday preppers, I am reminded of something a woman said when she learned her young son had been diagnosed with cancer. She said took a notebook and wrote down all the horrible things she thought could/would happen. Her list filled up several pages in the notebook. When all was said and done, maybe three or four of the anticipated events actually occurred. It makes sense to keep food and water on hand, but not extreme measures. If Yellowstone blows up, and it will someday, or an asteroid hits the earth, or we get another Ice Age, all your prepping isn't going to help much. The feeling I got the two times when I watched that show is that those folks are spending far too much effort on how to survive and not enough on how to live.

There is a story about a man who lived in Australia prior to WWII. By reading the newspapers, he knew war was coming, and he thought Australia would be pulled in because of its ties to Great Britain. He decided to move himself and his family to a safe place that would be untouched by the war. So he bought a plantation on a Pacific island where he thought he would be safe. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I, frankly, wouldn't want to be stuck in some hole and be the last few of a huge number of folks to survive.

A hole in the ground is a bit too much, but after all, it is reality TV. I am a prepper as well, but my life wouldn't make for good TV. There's nothing thrilling about canning from the garden. Vacuum sealing dried foodstuffs. Setting up an alternate water supply. etc... Raising chickens.

The only excitement is range day.

If a disaster did happen we would all be doomed. Look at how people fought each other over good deals on items not needed for survival. Now imagine your whole state in that panic for things to eat.
