Dorking Importation Project

The number of 450 eggs needs to be brought up to Nick to get his comments on do ability between the four varieties and the one or two bantam varieties, there is also talk of bringing Anconas over.

He is doing the figuring now on what he can produce. He has suggested several couriers as well over a period of a few weeks we are working out the possibilities and looking at all suggestions and and theories before making any decisions. Once we get all cost and legalities in place then we can make some hard decisions.

No he does not Anconas he researching the top breeders to see what he can find. Only one of our members is interested in that breed and he may have to handle some of the costs on them himself. We need to have a sit down on that one.

lol yeah if you wanrt to make a sizable donation. I thought 4 LF varieties and 1 bantam variety was a lot of birds

The biggest hurdle in all of this is getting the farm certified. If it was easy, then there will be eggs on planes every day. The cost of getting eggs from the farm to the incubator is not the big expense

Flock of origin veterinary health certification statements

The health certificate must be in English or a complete English translation must be provided. The veterinary health certificate must accompany the hatching eggs while in transit and must state that:
the flock or flocks of origin were found upon inspection to be free from evidence of communicable diseases of poultry;
no exotic Newcastle disease has occurred on the premises of origin or on adjoining premises during the 90 days immediately preceding the date of movement of the eggs from such region; and
as far as it has been possible to determine, such flock or flocks were not exposed to such disease during the preceding 90 days.

The flock of origin of hatching eggs imported from all countries except Canada are required to test serologically negative for egg drop syndrome (adenovirus 127), test negative on environmental culture for Salmonella enteritidis, and test serologically negative for viral turkey rhinotracheitis (avian pneumovirus) by a government approved laboratory. The flock of origin of hatching eggs from chicken-like poultry imported from Canada must be under a surveillance program similar to that of the USDA's National Poultry Improvement Plan.

The health certificates that accompany hatching egg shipments must indicate that:
Flocks of origin for the hatching eggs were not vaccinated against any H5 or H7 subtype of avian influenza.
The shipment will not transit through any regions where APHIS considers highly pathogenic avian influenza to exist, as listed here on this web page.
The flocks of origin have been vaccinated against Newcastle disease (avian paramyxovirus) at least 21 days prior to export, using vaccines that do not contain any velogenic strains of Newcastle disease virus. OR:
The flocks of origin have not been vaccinated against Newcastle disease.

The vet certificate needs to be done at a local level in concert with the British Govt Vet

I know. I am trying to figure a way to fund my importation from Spain. There are Black Penedesenca in Spain that where imported there in 08 I may look into that too.
is there any Dorkings in Canada ? I know a guy up there that we could work with if they have them.
Side project number two

Nick is looking into adding enough anconas to cover the number of eggs Joe wants and that's all... he's also looking into adding silver grey and possibly bantam sg from what I understand... this is entirely as a favor to us, I believe, which is very very much appreciated. Whether he keeps those varieties after we've gotten our eggs or not, I have no way of knowing. and unfortunately the cost of importing live birds is even more prohibitive than the eggs, unless one of us wins the lotto. LOL

if I win the lotto, I can promise I'll be bringing adult birds of each variety. plus a few others I'm interested in. LOL
