Wow.. it really looks as though there is simply not enough room! Maybe the lack of space just prevents them from any sort of movement to get air

Now with twins in a cup... would you use two different single eggs ? Or true double-yolkers? Or maybe both? That would be an interesting variable.

I would just do true double yolk eggs since that’s my whole project. The goal would ultimately be to have a way for people to incubate theirs and be successful. Like if there’s an endangered species that lays a double you wouldn’t have to let it go to waste. It’s a pretty complicated project though so I’m still gathering everything needed!

Yep, just like when I was with mine. One lone chick, and no room in the egg for the twins. I warned you, it’s tough to deal with mentally once they make it to that point.
I would do what is best for Gulliver. It’ll need a flock and a buddy to grow up with.

@MarlyMonster I am sorry for the loss you are feeling right now, I'm know it's tough to deal with emotionally. But I am proud of you for giving your all to this project. I am sorry about your lone duck he will definitely need a friend. Best wishes to you when you decide to do your next project.

I didn’t think it would get to me this bad but it hit harder than I thought.

I can get a baby from the hatchery so at least the little guy will have a buddy!

Sorry you didn’t hatch any more babies, but for your first time incubating ducks, you did an excellent job. You probably would have had a higher hatch rate with single yolkers. You should be proud of yourself!

Don't think there is any bird that lays doubles often enough for this to be an 'issue'.....tho it's fun project to think about and try.
Many have tried it, was a kid on here a couple years ago that tried multiple cup hatches.

Just got a friend for our little guy!

The only thing I’m worried about is that he’s still a little scruffy looking. He’s conpleteky dry but still has this wet look. Can I help him or will it resolve on its own?

Dried egg gunk...a DRY soft tooth brush can help fluff it up....or just wait, it wear off on it's own.
