Hi everyone - Question - my hens started laying about 2 weeks ago. Right now, only 4 or 5 are laying, 20 aren't laying yet (but soon, hopefully). My question - for 5 out of the last 6 days, I've gotten one huge egg, which turns out to be a double yolker. I haven't figured out which hen's doing it, but the egg is 2 - 3 times the size of the other eggs - so big that I can't close the top on the egg carton! Is it normal to get so many double-yolk eggs in a short period of time? Mary the girls - 5 red stars, 4 black stars, 5 light brahmas, 4 barred rocks, 4 buff orphingtons, 3 white cochins - and one naughty little Polish roo named Tina.
