He’s a golden neck. I’m still trying to make more of them, they are a hard variety to find. Did some research today, now I’m debating buying some white, or mille fleur hatching eggs, (after just saying I don’t really like breeding MF) but apparently there are a couple ways to breed golden neck.

The mom with babies pictured is all porcelain. She still has 8 babies of the 12 she hatched, a few just failed to thrive. I have 4 inside from her leftover eggs that I hatched. I have 5 other hens and 2 roosters in that pen, now with 8 babies, all porcelain. A couple of the hens are about 3 years old, the others are 1 and 2.

I also have 2 pens of “gold” shades. One very good full golden neck hen, one hen that is kinda buff colored, I’m not real sure what she is, and their rooster is pretty good golden neck, but he has a porcelain rooster a few generations back, so his offspring still aren’t 100%. They have one baby still growing out, I’m pretty sure it’s female.
The other trio is the one pictured last. The girls are more creamy colored, one has more gold around her beard, still waiting for them to develop out. The boy has a lot more white on him. Here are the 2 males I’m working with.

IDEAL and Welp have Goldens

At quick glance, it looks like Welp has a 30 chick minimum, and do a mixed box color variety (which could be fun? I really like the black mottled too). And they are a little more expensive per chick. Ideal doesn’t have a minimum, so I might order some from them. I wish they sold hatching eggs! I am going to contact a member here that I got my originals from. She isn’t very active but I can also contact her thru FB.
And I’m ashamed to admit, I don’t know the breed standard for Golden Neck. Welp’s pic of the male looks a lot lighter colored. I thought darker was better, my darker male is much prettier, but I’ll research that too!
