d'Uccle Cult

Different hatcheries, different years. He was an aggressive breeder, which isn't enjoyed, but I would have kept him if it was only that
My mille fleur that was aggressive was bought in a different batch a couple weeks after my first. Even now, the original chickens are inseparable.. if i raise more in the future, ill get my whole flock of chicks, plus spares. No more integrations. Hate the stress of them duking it out.

Hello all! I haven’t stopped in here for a while. My d’uccles are doing well, lost one crippled cockerel over the four days of freezing weather we had, but overall, my whole crew fared pretty well.
My goldens are growing out pretty nice, and the couple darker colored ones that hatched this summer both appear to be girls!

Gosh, I miss my girls. I'm half tempted to try and get more

I think I told yall before that Chatty is a little aggressive when it comes to treats and they are all three pretty fierce and always act like they are starving lol.
Well when I went down this morning to sit with em a few I noticed Chatty has dried blood on her comb and eyelid seemed scratched.
So she sat in my lap getting all the luvins as I tried to see if I saw blood anywhere else.
Cathy her sister usually luvs sitting in my lap for luvins but wasn't having it today.
Once I put Chatty down I figured out why...they got into a full blown fight in the dustbath beside me! Hackles all out, feet jumping up in the air and flogging each other over and over again. Then I noticed Cathy had dried blood under her eye in her cheeks!
I'm guessing it's a hen pecking thing going on with them.
Have yalls ever gotten this rough?!

Yes, at times..but only when there's been a change of personnel in the flock, or someone's been "away" being broody. Its short lived though. But I'd get some blue kote to block out any red blood since they're drawn to it. And you know Elsa has had some seriously long moments.. all calm at the moment, but that's why i keep the mini coop, as a look but don't touch jail. Is there a male perhaps in there disrupting the peace?
