D'uccle Thread

Here is my Mille Fleur D'uccle I hatched last spring. It was a rough hatch and only two survived and the other one had terrible side sprigs, so I figure he's pretty lucky. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to have inherited his father's aggression. View attachment 1543685
Something strange I've noticed in d'uccles is that the female porcelains have larger combs than the tiny ones on the mille females.
Lovely! :love

This is going to be a random question. Is it possible to have d'uccles that do not have feathered feet? We have a friend who works with an animal rescue and she ended up with 11 bantams, didn't know anything more than that. She deals with livestock, and doesn't do chickens, but no one else in the county did either. Me and two other people in the community took them in when she was unable to find any chicken rescues to work with. I've never done bantams before, and after looking and looking and looking. Some of the 5 that I took in look an awful lot like d'uccles but none of them have feathered legs.

Post some pictures.

D’Anvers are like d’Ucles but don’t have feathered feet. Pictures would confirm.

This is Cleatus. He is the ONLY porcelain D’Uccle I have even been able to hatch. He is the sweetest and most curious thing I’ve ever seen and I am so sad that he is too young to show in my 4h show this year!! We hatched him in my Ag classroom and the Shop class (I was in Intro to Ag) demanded to name him Cleatus. Not with an “e”, but an “ea”. They took credit for his hatching... . I love this breed and I can’t wait to find him a little hen or pullet!
