D'uccle Thread

We've never heard it crow! We weren't familiar with the breed and just thought both genders looked the same, but the females were smaller. LOL I've even thought it's been laying eggs, but apparently our Old English Game Bantam has been laying an egg a day. Impressive!

Oh boy. We have a lot to learn.

It's in with two other roosters, so maybe that's why we've never heard it crow. Although, my daughter says it does make the alert noises when birds fly over. It certainly doesn't act like a rooster and is as friendly as can be.
lol. Well good news is roos can get along ok with each other if there's no girls, bad news is that once there's girls.......... . I have a few of these kind of roos together in a coop and they get along pretty good. They even call each other over to food, just as if there was a girl. :D Some roosters like people! My porcelain roo likes to be held with the girls. (different coop)

The porcelain hasn't crowed yet, either but there is 2 easter egger roos in that coop with him and only the dominant roo has crowed that i've ever heard. They leave each other alone, but that isn't usual. I just happened to find the wusses of the bunch, lol.

We bought a cockerel and two pulleys today at the Oregon poultry swap! Very excited.

Oh, cool! Did you go intending to buy d'Uccles, or did you just think (as I did) oh, what cute little chickens, I must have them!

I bought mine not knowing what breed they were. They just were not selling, and were so pretty and small, that I dropped a few dollars and got hooked!
