D'uccle Thread

If you will keep the bald spot on your polish sprayed with blue kote the others will leave it alone. I had the same thing happen to one of mine. I sprayed it every few days and kept it blue until the feathers were completely grown out and they left it alone. If it started wearing off they would start picking.

Yes, I've been spraying her with blue cote (will need another application tomorrow) and I trimmed all her head feathers. Then I also end up with tiny purplely-blue dots on my hand. That stuff just won't come off for nothing! LOL (I've tried alcohol, soap & water, and nail polish remover)

Depending how much you wash your hands and shower it takes about 1-2 weeks to come off lol

I got two head shots of my Mille Fleur D'uclle today.

My f1 gen d'uccle crosses just hatched a crapload of little yellow babies, plus one brown one. (dun? chocolate? dom white?)
Momma is the pale grey next to my extra-yellow chick. They stay together constantly, so some of these chicks are from that cross. I've been trying to duplicate his bright yellow for a year now...Here's them from chickhood to adulthood.

Them as adults..

I wonder if dom white can turn black to brown? I've now gotten three brown chicks. The dun turns out greyish in my flock.
Here's the browns...The choc mottled is f2 gen.

f3 generation.

Easy to see the chocolatey color next to the black mottle. My f3 gen birds are hatching now.

What's weird, beside that beautiful choc mottle coming out perfectly d'uccle, is that my extra pale chicks die. As in a lethal white gene. Not sure if that is what it is in chicks, but I know horses have a lethal white gene. All the chicks in the first month. Not the others, just these pale babies. Maybe if momma raises them, the chicks can get any antibodies from her.
Any ideas anybody? Ever hear of a lethal gene in chickens?
