D'uccle Thread

What's weird, beside that beautiful choc mottle coming out perfectly d'uccle, is that my extra pale chicks die. As in a lethal white gene. Not sure if that is what it is in chicks, but I know horses have a lethal white gene. All the chicks in the first month. Not the others, just these pale babies. Maybe if momma raises them, the chicks can get any antibodies from her.
Any ideas anybody? Ever hear of a lethal gene in chickens?
Seems very possible, you may have stumbled on to something. A lethal white gene in d'uccles and - araucanas lethal in general. Very interesting

Hi, I am new to posting to this thread, but have been reading along can't find the info I am looking for.
I would like to know exactly what colors are allowed...and are the birds that come in "odd" colors not to be kept for breeding.
I have several different colored chicks that I have no idea what to call them.
None are Mille Fleur, one looks Splash to me, from experience with other breeds in the Splash color.
Is there another thread that deals with just the genetics or colors and maybe has lots of pictures that I can got to?
Or is this the place I need to be to discuss and learn from.
I thank you in advance and look forward to hearing from you.
Cheryl
I forgot to add that all my D'Uccles are just babies and some are pretty feathered out but perhaps it is hard to tell color at such young age?????
not usually, unless they are a bunch of mixed colors. Post some pictures

I am going to breed EE's (Easter Eggers) So I will not be getting D'uccles, I will be getting Ameraucanas for breeding EE's. Sorry guys.
Good luck.

One of my two Millies.
What do you all think of her color?

I like there color. They do have a big white dot on there heads. How old are they? maybe it will molt out a little. Anyways I like her. I don't know if you are planning on showing or not, but there is always a large competition between milles and porcelains at the shows I attend

I have been looking for mille fleur d'Uccles chicks and found someone advertising chicks for $6 each plus shipping is that a normal price? I am new so I wanted to make sure.
