D'uccle Thread

Does anyone have any idea what color these three youngsters are? They are pretty but's all I know.:lau this one has sort of "Columbian neck" blue foot feathers, blue under feathers Not the middle one it is a Cochin, the ones on either side I'd appreciate any help. I have more also, all strange colors, one Splash and one Porcelain I guess, plus others Thanks
First looks like a Mille but the others are just mixes. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to identify them.

Really ? they are that bad? I bought them from a breeder as day olds and was told they were Mille.
Boy I am not happy now. I think I might have done better just getting some from a hatchery.
There are others that are worse!!! A few have nice beards and foot feathers and about 1/2 or more are just not D'Uccle looking at all.
Guess they can get their selves to a sale. Might make some one some cute little pets.
Thank you so much for the honest answer! I appreciate you.

Sorry to break it to you that way, it is unfortunate if your trying to breed and show. For pets I'm sure they'd be great, I have almost never had one with a bad personality. For showing those would not do at all. Whenever purchasing chicks or eggs I always ask and make sure what I'm seeing are the parents and that they are good themselves. I hope you can find something that better suits your preferences.

Don't count them out just yet. Mille Fleur patterned birds don't look at all like Mille Fleurs in their juvenile plumage. You won't know what they'll look like as adult 'till their 3rd feathering.

I love that Mille(?) chick on the far right. Looks so cool without white!
That is a Millie Fluer D'uccle roo over a Lemon Spangled Sussex cross. Not sure if i'll breed her back, but I probably will. At this point, I'm hatching everything out.

What color is a dun?
Dun is sometimes sold as chocolate, but basically, it's a brownish grey that breeds differently from the choc gene. If you can cross a dun with chocolate, you get an excellent milk chocolate color.

Ditto. I wait until AT LEAST, 6 months old, a year would be better. Millie fluers are pretty unremarkable at birth and you can't tell a darn thing by their baby feathers...

Could you post a photo?

I understand that point but that's quite a lot of black to molt out. I've had a couple dark ones like that, I waited maybe a year, year and a 1/2 and not a whole lot of difference showing wise. But yes they do get more white with each molt so I guess there's a small possibility with patience...I hope they mature in your favor:)
