Brie had a turkey break her beak to the quick. It looked like a fingernail quick rounded shorter that the bottom half. I would file her beak back to the edge of her bottom beak. It is really long and that could be why she isn't eating as well and getting picked on. My sick girl seemed to perk up when I brought her a buddy in with her. If you have another shy bird you might want to try that. to give her some company.

It is possible the top is very very long. Thank you I am going to trim it tonight with some clippers. I will bring in one of my silkies for a day or two and maybe trade them outside and bring in the two highest in the Peking order inside for a few days.

Does anyone know why the comb is very pale could it be worms or is it just because she is weak from not eating as much.

make sure to have flour around just incase you cut it a little too short.

That mix will make you a more defined Porcelain, at least it should. Try it. My porcelain is close to 3 yrs old now and one obese girl weighing in at 2lbs 11 oz you can feel the fat on her she lives with my large fowl, come to think about it, the splash out there also felt heavy, they jump in the big feed dish to eat and the porcelain has made friends with the Marans roo and hides under him when others go to pick on her, it is actually cute, she sleeps with him and hangs with him, I've never seen him try to mate her, so she is safe with him.

Brie I use the generic of Ivermectin for mites, lice and worms. I have about 70 birds total counting chickens, ducks and turkeys so Frontline isn't economical for me. I also use it on my goats. It takes care of almost all the pest. If you only have a few chickens I would get the Frontline and treat them all. Some one chime in and tell her which kind dog or cat. You can look a few pages back and see the advice I was given for my hen with mites. When the weather warms up enough that the spray wont freeze I'm going to treat my coops along with my entire flock. It took my girl a couple of days to start the up hill climb, but I was pleased with her improvement today Hopefully she is out of the woods. Also I don't know what part of Alabama you are in, but I wouldn't put her out in the middle of this cold snap we are having. Wait until it warms up and then switch them around

Msticer that is possible! I bought her from a lady that had TONS of different chicken breeds. She told me she was a d'uccle but she is not near as big as the adult breeding d'uccles she had in a breeding pen.

Epp thank you it is going to get veryyyyy cold here tonight and tomorrow so I don't plan on switching until the conditions are steady again. I will look back and see if I can find it. I only have 8 chickens so maybe frontline will be best. Will it harm them if they don't have mites?

Yes I'm in the mountains we get snow. Sometimes... Not very much most of the time. Usually just a few inches. It's 22* now at 7:30 am and that's the high for the day.

I just got a call from my office. We are on a 10 am delay. Evedintly there is black ice on the roads. We have about a inch of snow. We have a lot of people move here from futher south and they freak out at the minchin of snow. They run to grocery store and buy all the milk and bread. If we do get snow they think because they have a 4wheel drive they can drive in it. It's a mess cars off the road all over the place. First thing they do if they slide is hit the breaks. Crazy... Okay I'm about to go on a tangent. I'll stop now.
