Two questions.

At what age did your roos start crowing?

Also at what age did your pullets comb start getting pink?

I'm worried I have a roo and both my Mille fleur 'a are so sweet.

My rooster was very pink by 3 weeks, red by 4. Crowed by 6-7 weeks old.

One of mine is more pink than the other but not red. She is making that neck stretch that roosters make when they crow though so I wonder...

All birds stretch up their necks when adjusting the crop, so that could be what you are seeing. Most roosters start crowing from 3-6 months of age, with an occasional early bloomer. How old are your birds?

Since I own no d'Uccle pullets I cannot say if the difference is extreme in pullet/cockerel but I can tell you after having chickens for just a few years and a few roosters to break me in....mine was a pretty obvious male at 3 weeks. His comb was very pronounced and very pink. Pullets of any breed I know or have experience with will almost never look actual pink (think raspberry) when they are less than 6 weeks old.If yours is less than 6 weeks and you would think pink over "flesh color" you should be prepared for possible bad news later.

They are 5 1/2 weeks old. I'll try to get a comb pic tomorrow. There is a big difference between my two with one being a more obvious pullet. She has a teeny tiny comb.

We have one d'uccle; he came as an extra chick. And he hatched with his legs far apart. So we hobbled him. Now "Hobbles" seems perfectly fine. My daughter wants to show him in the fair for 4H. I'd love for him to have some hens and for some color variation. Let me know if you have any eggs, chicks, or, pullets/cockerels for sale. He is so sweet, is this typical for a duccles demeaner? That's why I want more, my kids love to play with him because he is so friendly.

They can start crowing as early as 4 weeks, or as late as 12 weeks, though 6-8 weeks seems to be the average.
Most pullets combs will start turning pink at 18-20 weeks.
How old is the bird in question? Post a picture.
