I'm just curious, forgive me if I seem bold, but I would like to know what projects everyone has going on. I would also like to know your reason for doing so, and what's your goal? Please feel free to flogg me, but I'm just curious WHO is working on what and for what purpose.

Hey Guys.. Will anyone have any millie fluer D'uccle eggs around the 16th of March Planning on setting my "BIG BATOR" around then and would like some new blood, If so let me know prices and see some pic's Thanks!

BTW...my little ones survived my absence! So cute. Yellow one is feathering white and the black one is still huge, has great feathered feet and white starting to push through. DH has the camera, so pics will have to wait. Sorry! I'll try for Sat after the show.

Are goals and projects the same?

Projects:

1) I am breeding my Tallent millies with the TX millies, to get more pattern with the same excellent foot feathers my Tallent millies already had. The Tallent millise are technically correct by the standard, but judges are into heavier dots. I'm trying to find a middle ground. The milies the judges like will be too white too early.

2) I have my Lavender Improvement Project, which involved crossing my lavs (nice color, crappy type) with my millies (perfect type). The splits should've been all black. They weren't. Every one has color leakage, with the cockerals having MAJOR leakage. Most lacing was gold, but a couple of pullets have red leakage instead. I put one in the show and was complimented by both Tallent men on her type. I culled heavily for type early on.
Of my project (Lucky) x project (6 pullets) babies I have:
2/21 yellow chick
2/22 yellow w/ grey chipmunking, black w/ yellow penguin markings, total black w/ dark blue belly (3)
2/23 millie baby, perfect type-y chick
two more pipping tonight....

Those are my projects. My goals are:
1) To take my pair of Tallent blacks and cross them against the project girls later this summer, generating a nice flock of black d'Uccles.
2) Keep producing whites.
3) Keep producing goldnecks.
4) Hatch enough chicks for a prime set of showbirds for fall,
4a) Sell enough chicks at the May 7th Cocke County show to generate my own competition for the state d'Uccle meet in Cocke County in November.
5) Do my best to promote the breed.
6) Hit a d'Uccle state or special meet every month (blew it for March though. DD has a Japanese language class on Saturdays and I have no one to stay with her)
7) Get a website up.

I'm still working on my blue project as well, but hope by this time next year I have some decent birds to present. They get kinda 'leaky' too with color, but I'm slowly getting rid of it. All in time I guess.
It's storming here pretty bad so I'm gonna have to get off here. I'll jump back on later when storm has passed. Take care, hope everyone is doing well.

Projects
1) Lavendar
Working on the the type for my lavs. As I only have one lav hen and 2 roos I have the better roo in with the hen and some Mille Hens. The other lav roo is in with mille, and blue mille.

2) Lemon Mille Fluer
I have the Roo in with a mille , blue mille, and Gold Neck (splash)
F1 will be mille or blue mille split for Lemon.


3) Mille Fluer
Working on both black mille and blue mille to improve type and coloring.

Never ending work.
