D'uccle Thread

I thought the same thing. I just wanted to ask. I was looking on auction and there were some black and blues and whites for sale but the ear lobes look like they are blue.

At TSC or another feed store? I need to start hunting for one.. I've had bad luck with hatching here lately.. Seems I may never hatch any porcelains ..

I've got 4 broodies now on eggs, with the Mille ones due to hatch on approx the 24th. I'll keep you posted on how the chicks do and send you a replacement batch if all goes well.

I don't know if I will be showing this weekend as planned, as my husband's stepmother died today. Her health and her quality of life for the last year had been very poor and she did not want to go to a nursing home, and with the bladder cancer diagnosis on top of heart and lung problems, she'd previously chosen not to be on a ventilator for an extended period. Funeral arrangements are pending, so I will not know for certain about Saturday's show.

Is there any "lethal gene" in the d'Uccle breed? I have a nice pair of Blue Millie Fleur d'Uccle.
They were purchased from different breeders, in different states, so I know they are unrelated.

The eggs hatch great and the chicks are so cute. They are healthy, vigorous little chicks till
they get about 3-5 days old. Then they just fade away. No pasty butt or anything. Other
breeds of chicks in the same brooder will do fine. Every single d'Uccle chick I've hatched,
and I've hatched several dozen from the pair now, has died like this. They just fade out
over a period of several days. They never live more than a week. I have tried incubating and
rearing with a broody hen. Same difference.

I have tried different feeds, bedding, extra treats, vitamins, electrolytes, etc. What else can I do?
Please PM me with any info you have. Appreciate it!
