D'uccle Thread

You have two different coloured chicks, are the light ones male and the dark ones female? I had two eggs hatch out with one of each but the dark one didn't make it and the light one has suddenly become a boy. Just wondering.
Nope, you cannot color-sex millie chicks. The lighter chicks become the darker 'teenagers', strangely enough. But by adulthood they are nice birds!
That's why I tell everyone to wait as long as possible to decide which birds to keep or rehome. You could give away your best bird just because s/he is going through a fugly stage.

What a pretty picture!

My boys are getting little dots of white on their shoulders.

Do the boys usually get their colors before the girls?
Also, my oddball is darker, but her tail and feet look lighter than the others. Could she possibly be a weirdly colored blue mille?

I have a young girl that looks almost exactly like your girl. I'll have to get pictures sometime. Her dad was a white d'Uccle and her mom was a black d'Uccle.

most of yall know i want to work on a silkied d'uccle and i have been looking for good lines from both breeds but do yall think that i might be able to use hatchery silkies instead?
