D'uccle Thread

I would love to join this thread I have a pair of millie fleur belgian d'uccle's They were my first chickens and I fell in love with them the moment I saw them. I have had them for about 4 months. I think they are about 6 months old but Lucy my hen has not started laying yet. Chester is my roo.

Beautiful birds, but Chester has too big of wattles. Lucy is very pretty!

chester doesn't have a beard which would make him a booted bantam instead

sorry this may be a little off topic but i had this hen (belgian d'uccle) and she wouldnt eat,drink,or even walk aroung! we left her for abit then
tried to force her to eat and drink but avebtually we had to put her down she got extrenly skinney!! does anybody have any clue what may of
been wrong with her a week ago she seemed fine! i dont no what was wrong with her and she was such a lovley sweet little show hen!!
it sounds like it might be mites they slowly kill chickens. if it was mites you may have been able to isolate her someweres away from the coop and other chickens and she may have gotten better but you would have to treat all the chickens and the whole coop every nook and cranny of the pen and coop. mites come out at night to feed on the chickens blood, unlike lice these don't live on the body of the chicken but it might be a good idea to also check for lice on the birds during the day and mites at night
