Duck attacked by a raccoon

I have read others have used neosporin for animlas, but I don't have any experience with it. I know vetrycin spray is ok to use or if you just made a warm saline solution and flushed the area, that should be fine as well.

Here’s a photo of the poor guy now. He’s drinking water now but only when I put his bill into the water bowl. He doesn’t seem to be able to move his neck up or down but only left or right. Is this a sign that his neck is injured? Is there anything I could do? I’ve seen some people make some sort of a tube out of paper to help support the neck.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I’ve flushed his eyes and head with a warm saline solution for 2 days now. Hopefully he can start to eat again tomorrow otherwise I will have to tube feed him

It may just be strained. I would just keep offering supportive care and observe. Have you offered any electrolytes or nutri-drench? At least the duckling is standing on his own.

Thanks. No I haven’t done any one that yet. I saw a thread earlier showing how to make electrolytes for birds. Should I try that?

I would feel safe giving that to my ducks. Opt for molasses if you have it because it has extra nutrients that regular sugar does not. Also, make sure your duckling still has fresh water available as well.

Thank you. I think I will start giving him antibiotics in his water tomorrow since he’s drinking more now

Do you have antibiotics or did you mean electrolytes?
