Duck Breed Focus - Campbell

I love this breed. My drake "dilbert" is very protective over his girls. I have 5 khaki hens and 2 swedish hens. Everyday when I walk out my back door chunkers my head kc hen leads the pack she never misses a meal of any kind. They will follow me all over my yard just talking away.

I just wanted to comment here and give praise for the Khakis! This is the first time we have raised ducks (and I was very nervous about it) but we ended up with two females and they are SO sociable, well mannered, and not flighty. They crack us up when they go swimming! We just brought home a male and he finally went out with the girls yesterday, and he has a wonderful personality too! They are so easy to catch to put up for bed, and those girls lay some huge, tasty eggs! Fingers crossed for ducklings in the future!

We LOVE this breed- they were perfect for us as beginner duck owners. I will add more photos later!

Wanted to share a photo of our three day old Khaki's swimming. We are so happy to have babies!



Their first day after hatching with their "mom" (the ducks have not wanted to sit, so we put the eggs under a broody hen)

Hi I got my Campbells because I read they were great layers, small and quite. I love them so much and hope to breed them when they are old enough as a little hobby. One of my whites is supposed to be a drake. I was worried they were both drakes as the one I was told was a girl was suspiciously quite. I am sure the one that I was told was a boy is quaking like a girl though. I am not expert as this is the first time I have had ducks. I was hoping someone could tell me if I do have a boy and a girl.

I'm sure my khaki and mixed are girls. Today I noticed the one of the white campbells has very fluffy feathers on its neck and the other doesn't. They were both hatched on the same day. Is this a sign of a drake?? I'm still waiting for the curly tail feather.

Pretty ducks.... I've never seen white Campbell's before.
Kahki are easy to tell Drake's from hens.... But no idea on Whites.
But if one is quacking that's usually a dead give way. Shouldn't be long before the curly tail appears....
