When I decided to raise ducks for the homestead for meat and eggs I researched breeds and chose the Saxony duck. Little did I realize how difficult it was to find them. A stroke of luck I happened across an ad of Craigslist just an hour from me. I got my first breeding pair about 2 years ago. We kept them hidden in our suburb backyard for a year until we bought our homestead recently. Now we are able to move forward with our breeding program and our ducks are loving the free range and spaces in our new home! We've added a second breeding pair to our program and new duck houses. I love this breed and want to promote it as much as possible.
