Hi all,

I found a duck egg in my backyard, which was abandoned by the mother for a week. It was around 60 degrees F outside, which I read online is the ideal temperature for storing an egg, so i figured it couldn't hurt to try incubating it in the hopes of saving the little dude. Around day 7, I candled the egg and the veins were red and it looked alive, so I kept with it. I've been turning the egg consistently, so I don't understand why it only developed on one side. There are still slightly visible veins, but I'm pretty sure this is not normal (see images). There was no movement when it was exposed to the flashlight. :(

Sorry the egg isn't good. Duck eggs have a lot of "quitters" unfortunately. I had 9 call duck eggs, then down to 8, then down to 4, then 2 and now I'm not sure yet but possibly down to 1. It happens a lot. Sorry.

Definitely a goner, sorry. If the egg had already started developing and then was abandoned it could not be left at 60 degrees. That's only if the egg had not been sat on at all yet.
