duck food and slugs

No, definitely not a pretty sight! Found a slug in my kitchen once when I was younger and thought I'd put some salt on it cos they always say salt for protecting plants from slugs and snails don't they.... Never again!! It basically dissolved before my eyes and the guilt still gets to me 15 or so years on :(
I hear you that's for sure not nice

What about this? It’s a pot saucer to keep the water in for plants. You put a smaller dish of food inside it.

Apparently it does melt them due to severe dehydration and the process of osmosis. http://www.slugoff.co.uk/slug-facts/salt
I never gave it any thought. They should learn to leave my hostas alone. ;)

@Soon2BChixMom I'm confused - you sprinkle slug attractant on your plants?
Not exactly. They are attracted to the deliciousness of the hostas. I then sprinkle this stuff on the plants that the slugs will eat, slide through, absorb and then dehydrate (possibly melt). I usually don't bother if I haven't seen evidence of the slugs. But, it never fails they do love hostas. If I just let them have at the hostas, the plants would die. It is one or the other.

Oh I see, so the sodium ferric powder isn't so much a slug attractant as a slug dehydrator!
