I love all animals but ducks have stolen my heart. Last evening at bedtime all at roost except my 12 yr old Female she can’t do roosts any longer. View attachment 1924217. I also have Runners and Buffs

I didn’t think ducks would roost for some reason!

@Trimurtisan Finally got some pics of my KCs!
They're not the greatest pics, but it's not exactly easy to get good pics of them right now. They're scared of humans.
I plan on taming them down this winter when I have more time though.

Yesterday I figured out which ones I'm saving back.
There was 18 females. I'm saving all the females plus 4 males. There are 13 males left over to butcher.

This picture and your free ranging status makes me wonder if your ducks actually free range or are in a pen with a natural body of water? Do you lock them up at night?

I had six girls and a drake since last year. One say the drake was just missing. I kinda thought the girls may have gotten tired of his advances and done him in and the six girls were happy. Then about a week ago every night one or two would disappear. They were on a five acre pond and quit coming into their pen at night. I miss them but don’t want to try again next spring unless I can train them to roost in their pen reliably every night for their safety.

Problem is once the predator knows there is free food they keep coming back till there isn’t any more. I am sorry for your losses.

Between my chicken and ducks if your flying over in an airplane we probably look a lot like the moon with the craters we have. My geese are well behaved compared to the other two.

This made me laugh, my ducks showed up on google earth!
