Only problem with letting her sleep on the roof is Owls!

I let her sleep there last night because I spent over an hour trying to get that duck off the roof I was calling her like I would a dog... She wasn't budging! I even got treats. I even had flashlights so she could see!

If adorable means very stubborn then yes, she's adorable

When our 2 Muscovy decide they were going to sleep on the roof instead of inside I took the hose put it on full with the nozzle and just kept blasting them till they came down. They finally had no choice lol. She is a beautiful Scovy!

I am good but cold. Funny how the ducks don't seem to mind. They are just hanging out having the usual party.

Why are my ducks such wimps? It’s in the 20’s today (Fahrenheit), which is a lot warmer than it is going to be soon. However, my ducks showed zero interest in leaving the barn. Granted, one decided to drop all of her feathers last week, one is at the tail end of her molt, and Daphne, well, she doesn’t want to go out alone. However, they could have made at least a small effort. That being said, I’m kind of feeling the same way about the cold.

I’m guessing that you didn’t do that in the middle of Winter, but reading your response put a very vivid image of hosing hens down with icy water in the snow. I’m sure that would get the point across quite well.

Nope it was late summer, but one time 3 of my original Muscovy females decided they weren’t going in for the night. We have a steep hill behind our home they got up there in wouldn’t come down for nothing no way could I get to them or get them to come down and it was in winter. I sat out there and begged but they wouldn’t budge so finally I had to come in. I just knew next day they would be dead but they weren’t so I fixed their butts so when bed time came again they had no choice but to go in. That’s the last and only time any of mine have stayed out over night. We had a chicken hen who went out in the woods nested and brought home 10 chicks spent all that time outside but would not take those chicks in the coop for nothing she got up under the wood shed with them something got her in the night and only 3 of her chicks survived. I know I can’t leave anyone out over night.
