Duck with Bumblefoot (Warning Viewer Discretion Is Advised)

Yes, he is FULL of personality. He gets mad at me if I don't give him kisses lol.

He was all fluffed up with his head resting on his back (his feather pillow). It was adorable.

THAT IS THE CUTEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD. I love IGOR. Heehee. His feather pillow is built in. So awesome you have a duck who gets mad if you don't kiss him.

Hey guys,
After a couple weeks of trying to soak the bumblefoot infection out of my sweet little house duck, I have decided to do penicillin injections.
My question is where should an intramuscular injection be on a duck? I know the chicken breast is located to either side of the keen but this area doesn't seem muscular on him. Should I inject higher up? I'm a little nervous since I've only given SC injections to him before.

@alhutch2Welcome to BYC! IM injections should be in the breast muscle. If your duck has pus in the foot you need to get the pus out. Antibiotics will not treat the pus.

Thank you! Thank you! You guys are awesome to get back to me so soon!!!!!
He seems to get bumblefoot every year or so living on my hard tiled floors. The scabs have usually gone away with regular soaking and cleaning but this time both of his feet have gotten pretty swollen after a visit to my parent's farm over the holidays. Poor thing. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do 'surgery' on the footpad but it sounds like it will help in the long run. Hopefully the antibiotic will at least get the Staph all out of his system so it won't return. Thanks again guys! Looks like a fun weekend ahead for us

@alhutch2, probably okay to try Haunted55's method, but if it doesn't get better, you might want to consult with a vet. A bad infection can kill them.
