Duck with Bumblefoot (Warning Viewer Discretion Is Advised)

Here's a hilarious video of Igor:

That was Great!

I'm coming out the shadows lol. Hey guys what's up? I've been pretty busy with a lot of different things. Igor is doing really good and injoying the warm weather with the rest of his ducky friends. All of the ducks have all their feathers now, the drakes have nice green heads. They're about 5 months old and nearly ready to start laying (the chickens are being really lazy, they should be laying by now). I have decided to make the run 24 x 24 instead of 24 x 16, it's going to be really neat, I can't wait to show you guys! I'm going to start making it in a few days, I've been trying to make some money to build it. We got 16 chicks from tractor supply 6 days ago - 8 Road Island reds, and 8 Amber Links. Of coarse I couldn't resist getting 2 little Pekin ducklings, I'm pretty sure I picked a boy and a girl.

Sadly, we lost 4 of the Amber Links on the second day, they were very weak, and flimsy. I tried giving them some egg yoke, and dipping their beaks in water, but it was too late. I was giving the chicks and ducklings nutri drench as soon as we got them, so I'm not sure what happened, they all seemed normal the first few days. Tractor supply was happy to replace them - we got 2 more Amber Links and 2 Production Reds since they didn't have many left. We also got some electrolytes and probiotics (sav-A-chick) to put in their water along with ACV. I'll switch them back to nutri drench when that's gone. I've been giving them baby cake for chicks for extra nutrients as well. They perked right up and started acting like a bunch of sugar - wound kids lol. A few of them were getting pasty butt, so I just soaked their tushies in warm water and the ACV probably helped too. There's only 1 that still has pasty butt, I'm going to soak it then see how she does.

I noticed a few days ago, that one of the production Reds keeps one eye open, one eye closed. She still eats and drinks, but she's not as perky as the others, and she's a LOT smaller. Her eye will open up when I open it, but she complains loudly and closes it again. Is there anything I can do for her? @Miss Lydia @casportpony

@DiamondSwan there is a condition called failure to thrive and no matter what you do they just don't grow and thrive. The Nutri drench should have really gave them a boost but just shipping straight from hatch has to be very hard on them. I don't know what to tell you other than if she continues to eat and drink she may come through okay use the save a chick and on days you don't use the save a chick give them poultry nutri drench I have heard grinding up reg oatmeal[ not instant] and adding to their feed can help with pasty butt that is something you really have to keep up with. Does it look like maybe the lil chick might have gotten pecked in her eye? You could try something like antibiotic ointment around her eye and see if that helps or nice warm saline and soft cloth and try to clean it out. Oh and Nutri drench can be given straight just tiny amounts right inside the beak it goes to work fast right into the blood stream so that is something else you might want to try with this lil one. I use a small dropper to give it.

They are all adorable the lil Pekins are precious too, hope you got a pair.

There's oatmeal pieces in the chick baby cake, that's their favorite part. How much nutri drench and how often should I give it straight to the little chick? And can I give the nutri drench to her while she has the sav-A-chick in her water? I can't tell if she got pecked in the eye or not, but she does complain when I touch it. Are you talking about the antibiotic ointment that you put on wounds? Should I separate her from the other chicks and put her in with the ducks?
