Looking for advice—-went out to coop a few mornings ago and found our hen Pekin duck had cknocked over the water bucket, climbed on it and bitten onto an open link of galvanized chain, essentially skewering up into the tissue below her eye. She was hanging there for who knows how long over night.
I took her down and held her, made sure she rehydrated, etc. She was alert, eating and drinking. I added some Nutridrench to her clean water and have been washing her bowl and doing the same each day.
Today I went out, 48 hours after the injury and the swelling is a bit worse. That eye is running and very wet around it, she blinking a lot and I’m not sure what to do to help her out. Suspecting infection, not too many vets around here will treat her. Want to fix it, not process her. Anything I can do?
