I have a 2 year old Pekin that lays around a lot. He has a hard time cleaning his back end. Their is some poop stuck in his feathers that has maggots in it. I tried a small tub and couldn’t get him soaked enough. I filled a bigger tub now. What should I use to kill them or will they drown if I keep soaking him?

If you give him a bath with coconut oil it could help lubricate the feathers, which could help get the poop off. If you give him a bath for long enough he should be okay.

My Pekin Fred had maggots on back around oil gland also under wings. I tried bathing him last Thursday when they where just on back not up under wings. On Friday he was covered so we gave him 1/4 small dog capstar pill crushed and dissolved in 1 mill water orally.
then I crushed 2 pills and dissolved in about 7 oz water. Sprayed on him. He was still eating meals worms and drinking, I did a natural fly spray in his pen, they kept getting on him until I covered in wonder dust. I think that was the first he could relax it kept the flys away. I gave him another dose of capster Saturday. Then more wonder dust. Sunday his oil gland is still a little crusty, soft underneath. But new fussy feathers around it. So today Monday he got up ate some and went with other ducks. He is my miracle. I will try to clean his oil gland in a couple days . Just letting anyone know I think drying out the maggots is the trick.
