My kids call that "launching". My full grown Swede can force herself to do it at will when she's irritated. She'll get this devilish look in her eye & the kids will yell, "PUT HER DOWN SHE'S ABOUT TO LAUNCH!" Sure enough a 10" projectile splat comes launching out. She always looks very pleased with herself if she actually hits somebody with it. [IMG]... I love that funny, devious duck!!!

    Thank you!

What stinkers! I have been using sand from the driveway, is that okay?

Just a thought, but I would not use sand from a driveway... too much risk of oil and gas residue that could be in it... and hard to wash out of it... :/

I also would have some reservations... not to worry you but maybe there's another source of bedding.

What about clean sand? I had been wondering about this. I have a pile of sand that was delivered for various projects around the house, I have been tempted to use it but haven't yet, What's your way-in about it? I think it would make cleanup easier in their pen. Right now I have 2 ducks in the pen 24/7. I have bandaged one for angel wing and have put a friend in with her, it would make the cleanup easier if I had sand rather than hay. But have been concerned about it. They are normally free ranging so get plenty of sand otherwise.

    Thanks!

I have not used sand for bedding for littles or adults, either, so I am going to defer to those who have....

I know at Majestic they have sand for adult pens.

Okay, thank you! I have used this sand once in the past for chicks- I'll switch to sand from a "clean" spot now.

The reason I like sand is if they spill water, I can just sift out the wet spots!
