Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

:hugs :hugs   sorry for you and her Banti. Just a thought didn't you have her in a sling of sorts before ?   Keeping her in water will keep the weight  off the leg . There is a tape I can't remember what it's called. It  is  very much like a cast material wet it and it gets hard .One of those things that was showed on the Shark tank .  I know I saw it at Home depot once . If you can find it you may be able to fashion a cast for the leg . If you can keep it immobile long enough it will mend .:fl

Thank you. Nope, no sling. I have been putting her in a pool for a large portion of the day, but she keeps scrambling out when she's done instead of waiting for me like she used to, and right now that might make it compound, which would finish her.
Interesting, I will have to look that up. How does one get it off afterward?

Well I guess cut it off

It's kind of like an epoxy thing that reacts to water . It could be hard for you to get off . I would use a cut off blade /wheel on a four inch side grinder . You got one of those ? A sling might be her best chance .

Don't got one, I'm afraid.

I'm thinking sling sounds best as well, + a splint as high up as it can go.

Thank you for making me smile.

Based off of what Ravyn said and research on ducks with broken legs, it's either splint, surgery, or euthanise. Surgery is no, and euthanising is a no if I have anything to say about it, so we're left with splinting. Nothing beats a try, except a failure, so we'll hope I can get a splint to stay put. Guess miss Chrissy is coming back inside.

@BantyChooks which bone is it? I have successfully splinted/treated several fractures below the femur, but was unable to save the two with fractured femurs:( .
What I was thinking is it might just be dislocated at the knee... that happened to one of Lucy's ducos just the other day and can be popped right back in... vet did it for her and showed her how, so might be useful to give her a PM...

Tibia, I believe.

I'll send her one. Dislocation sounds much more treatable.
Thank you.

Sling so her foot can't touch the ground at all. If will alone is enough you'll pull her through this ..
