Duck house is done! Minus paint job. Just in time for good weather for them to stay out in during the day. They are 3.5 weeks old now.

Of course my daughter wanted to read to them. Enjoying it before it gets too poopy for this

I have a question for you knowledgeable people lurking here please. Can my ducklings stay outside at night? Right now they spend daytimes in the duck house outside and nighttimes in their brooder inside. Next couple nights will be too cold but after that it's supposed to be in the low 60s at night. By then they'll be 4 weeks old.

There's 12 waterfowl total and they're pretty good at duckpiling for warmth. Eight of them are muscovies though (if it matters) and definitely slower to feather in than their mallard-descended friends. They'll have plenty of straw and an upside down tote with a hole cut out that they can go into.

My ducklings just spend their first night outside. I think they were happy not to come inside to their brooder, it was already too small for them. They are 6 - 7 weeks old.
We were kind of reluctant to leave them outside, but they needed the space!! Their parents were killed by a fox 3 months ago, so we were worried (the fox forced the door...). But we now have double hardware mesh on the walls and on the ground around the pen, and new latches/ locks on the duck house. My husband even joked about sleeping outside by their pen just to keep an eye on them, hahaha.
By the way, I am pretty sure I have three girls and three boys. The girls are already quacking loud when they want something, like fresh water or food . And one girl and boy of each color, white, dark and normal khaki.
