Duckling hatch along?

Okkkkk so they are due on Monday but look what I found! And another is pipped at the wrong end. Membrane looks dry/brown but I can see blood vessels and baby is moving so I'll wait. View attachment 1857441 View attachment 1857442

Early bird....
Love the second pic of momma screaming at you!

Well malpo is out. I went out to check and it wasn't moving. It was glued in. So I started picking and no blood. So I picked some more. His foot was over his head. Once that was free he literally rolled in the egg. I stuck him under the broody still half in the shell. She grabbed the shell and ate it then grabbed the baby by the foot and swung it around. Not sure if that's normal or not but I grabbed him and hes drying off in the house. Once he has his legs under him and good and dry I will try to reintroduce him to his mom. View attachment 1857687

Nice save!

@Trimurtisan - you asked if I had a thread for my hatch. :D
I hope you’ll share here as your hatch goes along too.
Thanks for the invite! I'm doing a bit of catching up here. I need to get some pictures, I'll post them here when I do. I was happy to see you yesterday that I do have viable eggs oh, some of them.

I got some new ducks a few weeks ago that were set to go to my farm, but I haven’t taken them yet. So I decided I’d set a few of their eggs. 11 eggs set today.

I also have some call ducks that just started laying so I plan to set some of them on Monday or Tuesday so they should hatch around the same time as the Saxony eggs.

Anybody have ducks hatching and want to share some boredom for the long wait? :)
I'm following along! I also have 23 Muscovy eggs under a a broody Muscovy hen set to hatch August 21st-25th plus a few a little later too!

I’m separating my Muscovy tomorrow. She keeps playing broody, but not committing. In the past, she has chosen outside areas. I think being inside, she’s being disturbed too much. I’m hoping she’s really ready, and has a good hatch! :fl

All the best! I pray it goes well for you and that she commits to sitting for good!
Have a blessed hatch!
Happy Muscovy-ing! :)
