Duckling is still attached to yolk. I don’t know what to do

It’s been about 5 days since the scheduled hatching date and I thought that this duckling was a bad egg. On closer inspection I could here pecking inside the egg but the duck was too weak to peck through. Now after 5 days I decided it probably time for me to intervene so I aided the duckling out of the egg and now it’s out and chirping but it still looks weak and has what appears to me to be the yolk. I’m starting to get worried and I don’t know what else I can do. If anybody has had a similar experience I would really appreciate the advice.

That looks bad. Maybe a ruptured yolk? I am no professional, I just started hatching eggs myself but I’ve done a lot of research and I don’t think that’s good. Hopefully I can make this page refresh by commenting and one of the professionals can see this.

@MGG can you help with ducks??
Sure!

That does look bad. When you got it out, it bled a lot I'm assuming? It was definitely not ready to hatch yet. I bet it was in a cold spot in your incubator and didn't develop at the right speed. Did you put an additional calibrated thermometer inside of your incubator prior to setting the eggs to confirm that the temp was right?
The baby looks like it lost a lot of blood. I don't have high hopes for it, unfortunately. It doesn't look good.

Yes I used an additional thermometer besides the one built into the incubator

There’s nothing you suggest I can do to help him?

Welcome to BYC btw!
I'm sorry, I'm dealing with a sick bird right now and I was kind of in a bad mood earlier. He's not responding to treatment very well.

You can try giving your baby some sugar water or electrolyte water. If you mix some up, saturate a q-tip with the mixture and drip it along the side of his bill. Don't get it his nostril though. It should help pep him up a bit.
