Duckling leg problems - advice

I'd say it's the injury then. But putting the duckling on a good poultry vitamin sure won't hurt. If you have a TSC there is Poultry Nutri drench.

But Possibly it could have injured it's hip maybe popped it's hip out of socket something that could be over looked since we're not vets. Can you actually gently pull the ducklings legs straight or is the one leg always crossed over even if you try to pull it straight? .I agree if at all possible getting a avian vet to take a look would be best especially since the duckling is still young.

Crossed over from knee to foot makes me think there may have been a break that you just couldn't feel.

Poor thing. I know young kids love ducklings and want to hold them because they’re so cute but there’s always a chance that they may accidentally drop the duckling. You try giving him extra niacin and calcium supplements to strengthen his legs. As for his crop I’m not sure what can be done for that because it could be an internal injury. Could you try using gauze and the material used for broken arms to wrap his legs and to give him added support. It might also help his bones to develope straight and in the right position. Because he is still growing there is a good chance his legs may still heal. I recommend taking him to a certified bird vet to further discover what is going on with his crop

Sadly, I have no bird vets within 100 miles of me. I'm in a pretty small town and around here it's mainly dogs and cat vets.

I'll add some picks of him before I head to work.

That’s to bad about the vet. But pics would be very helpful to know exactly what you’re dealing with. I’ll help in any way I can to help you poor little duckling overcome this.

Here are some pics of him.

I have to head to work now but please everyone post what you think!

Is it just the one leg bowing inward and causing him to trip or are both legs growing inward?

Ok, at least one of his legs is still straight and appears to be functioning properly. I recommend wrapping the one leg or using a splint to hold it straight making something like a cast to ensure it grows properly. You will need to do this until his bones have grown back into place enough to continue on their own. As for his crop issue, his body may just have to fix that on its own. I think that injury just needs time to fix itself.
