Duckling with bill injury

Have you seen this thread:

Oh, in post 3 she mentions that her duckling had slits instead of nostrils, too, and they got a little better, although the underbite got worse. She also said she she mashed eggs to help him grow. Maybe I should try that too.

Thank you. That does look kind of similar, but my ducklings bill is not curved up, yet anyway. I hope it doesn’t get worse. My biggest worry is about her nostrils, and having to breath through her mouth. I have not yet found any info on if that will resolve or if there is anything I can do to help her.

That is helpful, thank you. My baby started making a clicking noise today as she tried to breath through her nose slits. I was wondering if I should start her on duramycin.

I don't know if antibiotics will help or not, I am sorry.

Thank you. Did your ducklings bill grow normally after it healed?

My biggest concern right now is her nostrils being pinched closed, and having to breath through her mouth.

My drake healed fine and it wasn’t noticeable at all. He’s now happily 4 years old! it wasn’t horrible, but it did leak water as he drank. Lol

I feel like the area will kinda mold back the way it’s supposed to be as your duckling grows, but it’s hard to say about the nostrils. Maybe a vet could reopen them later if they close up?

That's ok. I was just commenting about what I read in the thread you showed me. I was going to try antibiotics if her breathing didnt improve, in case it was an infection. But, she is better today so it doesn't look like she needs it.
