I don't worry about Mini being overbred as tiny as she is, she pushes George around. She is smaller than the ducklings. I will trade you George/Mini eggs for some ducklings.

My husband is for anything that results in less ducklings. George is really pretty. His head is very metallic. Mini is so small. Not sure her eggs would be viable, but I would like to try.

Our ducks are starting to warm up to us. They are associating us with food. Freeze dried mealworms really are duck crack! All the bands except yellow (biggest girl) and blue (Beyonce) have fallen off so I am calling that a lost cause. I have weighed them all recently and they are all gaining weight. Visually I can see one is a little bigger than the rest and one is a tad smaller, but they are all fat little things. The biggest girl, with the yellow tag, looks up at me a lot. I don't know how to describe it but it's so cute! I can tell she is thinking something. Probably wondering if I'll hand down some mealworms. We're calling the crested one Beyonce. She is the ringleader and really feisty.

I am working on a new waterer using an old plastic folgers coffee container. I tried making a hanging on with a 20oz drink bottle and cut the hole too tall..... a duck managed to get inside and get trapped for a few seconds before getting free. Really scared me, so I'm sure the poor thing was terrified! I think it may have happened a time or two while I was out of the room because I remember hearing somebody sounding really mad.... Seriously, their greatest joy seems to be to play in the water. They'll do anything to get in it.

Thanks again for the tip about chick grit. They have been eating a bit of peas and their little crops are so full. They'd be in trouble right now without it.
