My 4 week old indian runner duckling's legs started trembling last weak very badly. she can only stand for about 25 seconds and then her legs shake so bad that she needs to lay down.. Other than that she eats, drinks, and does everything else just fine and seems happy and healthy.. I have been giving her a tablespoon of brewers yeast per cup of food since they were 3 days old so I am pretty sure she are receiving enough niacin.

I read online that a reason for the leg shaking can be a lack of calcium, and that some people were giving their ducks a Tums and it helped. Is this okay to do? I went out and bought the regular fruit flavored Tum's brand of Tums and the only ingredients are calcium carbonate.

Can I crush this up and feed it to her? Thanks! :)

I think I read one thread where someone's vet suggestd they give calcium. Is that the thread you are talking about? It probably won't hurt to give a little calcium, but too much might not be safe. What amount is safe? Maybe 50 mg per pound of body weigh?

It was someone who was giving their duckling tums for extra calcium to help her legs. I will look more into it, thank you!
