Hi everyone. We got 4 ducks this fall. We built them a huge (4x6) house, plus a covered "patio" (4x4), attached to a fully enclosed (top and underground too!) pen (10x10). They used their house for about the first two weeks that they were out of the brooder, but now they refuse to sleep inside. They have to go up a ramp to get to their house, but we see them using the ramp every day (and walking right past the door to their house) to get to their food, so we know the ramp isn't the problem. Sometimes we put them in their house just to see what they will do - they quack around and act excited to dig through the fresh straw, then as soon as we walk away they are right back in their pen. The pen is safe, and we never have to clean their house, so maybe this is ok, but its been getting down to about 20 degrees at night here in Central Washington. Is this normal and do we need to worry about it? Or should we just be happy their house is clean and fresh?
