Not even a wiggle, despite my constant pleas that they get with it. I just know I'm going to miss the whole thing. Geez I hope they are ok! I didn't candle after day 14.
Go chickies GO!!! Go marans, lord I love featherfeets...
On a side note, I'm perfectly sane despite the five turkey eggs I just stuffed in a full bator to check for fertility, yeah that's it... fertility... chuckle.
LOL, guess the bator really wasn't full if you got more in there!
My 4th just hatched, looks like a clean legged pullet. I've got 11 more pipped, which I can hardly believe. I set 18 eggs, 1 was clear so removed it, and there is one of the 2 not pipped that I thought had died 4 or 5 days ago. So I've got action on 15 out of 18 of my eggs!
Hey Ya'll. Just got home from work to find my little Buff Cochin dead.
I don't know what happened to him, I had it seperated from the other two so they wouldn't trample him cause he had just come out of the incubator and was tired. When I went to check on them he was stretched out and dead. ???Who knows--poor little thing. I was so excited about him too. Anyway--I'm off to take a pic of the Dark Cornish to post.
The one thing I do know is that the bantam chicks absolutely have to be kept where they can get warm under a light. A little chill and they seem to go down hill in a hurry.
Thanks Insiderart--the cochin was a regular size not bantam but regardless he was under a light and still felt warm from it when I found him. The temp on the thermometer was 96, I've never had one die as a chick, it's sorta heartbreaking.
