Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Mine are pretty quick, if there's a worm involved. Don't know if it's catch a sparrow quick, but still seems very fast to me. I can't comprehend how fast they seem to be able to tell what's food and what's not, flip over a log and the speed in which they destroy herds of roly-poly's is amazing. Wish I had "bird vision".

This is what is confusing I learned by all the reading here that they eat any meat that is cooked. Then I was told/read that meat will make them aggressive. So my girls eat grubs, those black roaches everyone calls water bugs, lizards and the occasional sparrow they manage to catch.... is this not all meat and as you said not cooked.
Eating meat (or anything else) will not make chickens, or any other critter, aggressive. And chickens don't care if meat is cooked or not. Mine are pretty good mousers as well as bug catchers. As far as they are concerned, if they can catch it, it's dinner.

Oh I gotta find this link to an article, but a scientist was messing with gene's, and manipulated chicken dna to show the old ancestry genes, once thought long gone. Kind of like horses that sometimes grow an extra "toe", or a human born with a tail. Basically left over gene from long ago that sometimes show up, thousands if not millions of years of dormancy.

He got a chicken to grow teeth, via dinosaur gene's...grannted they looked more like little lumps on the edge of the beak, barely resembling teeth, but teeth nonetheless.

My son and his family about 8 months ago went vegan. He was telling me that he read somewhere (while researching why meat and animal products are not good for us

) this very same thing that an egg is the result of the chickens period. REALLY? I have not looked it up but he is the one that led me to see how the eggs are produced for the stores and for that I am grateful will not buy nor eat them again.
Your son needs to take Sex Education 101. He obviously does not know what a period is. Chickens don't have them. Very few animals do. Reproductive cycles, yes. Periods, no. And if he thinks animal products are so bad for us, ask him while he is doing research to see if he can find a primate, any primate, that subsists on a totally vegan diet in the wild.

Yesterday I lost a few birds by a thief. They broke in my yard and stole my 3 adult turkeys, my only leghorn rooster and a bunch of EE's chicks and one black copper marans young rooster. They didnt touch my breeders pen in there I have black copper marans, in the others pens I have ee's and ameraucanas. One of the ameraucanas is a blue wheaten rooster from peachick. Only one i hatched from her expensive eggs. None of the ameraucanas are at point of lay. For me to get those birds was a really dificcult thing. So I am glad they are ok. Well, my mom heard something and told my dad that someone was at my yard. My dad is with a cold so he told her that probably they were my friends and he didnt even got of the couch. My mom continued doing her shores and forgot the incident. When I got home late at night I found my birds missing..
Today I call my father to ask him something and told him I was getting a security system. And here come the funny part....he told I did not need it because the thiefs are not going to return. They just wanted the turkeys and they got them.
Dad,and what about the other birds they took?
Those were only extras they took as they passed. naaaahhhh, they are not coming for more.

Nope....i believe they saw everything and are coming for them all. So I took in some of my ameraucanas and just got the camara system and key locks for all the coop's doors. Need to install them all. And i'm sure my dad will tell me I'm exagerating.

Fishmeal can make the eggs taste somewhat fishy though. My aunt said she couldn't eat the eggs in England when she was visiting her son who was stationed there because they feed their chickens fish.

It's the feed companies that try telling us that we shouldn't feed bones or meat to dogs too, and our vet told me that a limited amount is OK for ours (springer spaniel mix that lives outdoors and gets plenty of exercise).
I have never heard the feed companies or anyone else saying not to feed meat to dogs, but sometimes too much fat can cause problems. However, cooked bones can splinter and pierce an intestine. I lost a dog that way once. We didn't know what was wrong until it was too late.

Yes too much fat/grease greases the works too much. that is as polite as I know to put it. I had a dog and by accident OD'd the dog with grease, the dog I knew felt bad a few days and I wish I had done it to myself instead because I didn't know not to feed her lots of fat/grease and she didn't know not to eat all of it....

My rule on giving dogs leftovers "If I won't eat it, just give them a little", in other words if I cut off all the fat on a steak, they get a little bit of that, but if I only eat half a steak an there is a good balance of meat to fat, then it is okay to give. The best book I ever read was "Give your dog a bone", my dogs have loved me much more ever since, LOL!!!

I used to be a chef (now stay at home mom and chicken/sheep/rabbit/dog raiser), and one of the things I had to do occasionally was go out to the dining room and speak to people who asked to see me, usually to give complaints or comments. One day, I got the following question:

"Oh, you are the chef?"
in my head: "What gave it away, the white coat, the apron, or the hat?"
what I said: "Yes, I am the chef, how do you like our food this evening?"

It's great, but my wife and I were wondering if you could tell us how to make chicken nuggets that taste just like McDonalds?"
in my head: "Sure, you just take a very very sharp boning knife, and carve out your soul, then you take a whole chicken, beak, feathers and all, and stick it in a giant blender with some texturized vegetable protein.....No, no I can't tell you how to...People are trying to eat here!.... OMG, give me back the wonderful food i just made for you, it is too good for you!"
What I said: "Ah, I believe it is a secret recipe, I am sorry about that."
