If you are serious about getting this dog (and it sounds like you are), then you should probably Google/Yahoo map it from the location the dog is at to your house/neck of the woods.
Then post it here so that those in the area of the Map can see if they would be willing to take on a leg of the trip. I don' t mean the pictures of the map, just the directions (words).
Then if someone is willing to take on a leg of the journey then you could post where they are starting from and ending at so others can join in...does that make sense?
Hopefully there are enough people here that would be willing to help you if the puppy still needs a loving home!
Hi all, the vet won't be out here until tomorrow, they do the traveling shots on the weekends, we don't have a vet here anymore. I will update tomorrow!
I have this feeling, that the scenario has changed. I have not heard from WOW, Could the pup have been chipped and she is driving him home now? Or she fell in love with him and is at the blood bank now selling plasma so she can keep him? Either way, that would be good too. (except the plasma part )
I will log in again in the morning and see what all you BYC-ers have been up to.
...would it be mean to do that 'handing off at every rest stop' thing to a dog? Each new face a potential home, but it isn't. Am I being selfish?
I envisioned that pup before I knew he was dumped at WOW's home. Our dog had to be put down two weeks ago. The other two need a replacement friend, and he is what I envisioned. I did that last time I needed a dog and a day later I got just what I ordered. Weired, huh?
You could always look up a GSD forum. Many of them have rescues that frequent their boards and those rescues have volunteer drivers. They are also often already organized
Good luck! If I was closer I would give him a home too. GSD has always been my heart dog

I do dog rescue transport and we 'hand off' all over the southern states all the way up to Canada - Each volunteer drives a 'leg' about one hour or 50-60 miles, sometimes we do two legs at once - my thoughts are - 'Makes no difference where the dog comes from, just where it is going'
It is a FANTASTIC way of fostering and finding homes for dog that otherwise woudl be PTS - Rescues in VA, SC, GA, etc. are so over flowing that they are more than happy to see a mommy dog and her 6 pups transported to Rochester, NY where the demand for large dogs is high, rahter than have them destroyed for lack of space.
Sweet to see how many people care and want this little guy. Not that I would be happy about someone dumping a dog in my fenced yard,BUT he was lucky to have been placed in yours. Subbing to see where he ends up!
