I had a little japAnese mottled roo, who i gave to my family member, due to living near city, his feathers are obviously molting but i don't recall his vibrant huge comb ever shrinking and its been this way for a few weeks. From what i have noticed, he has no s..ex drive when i am there, which i told my family member that is not normal good healthy behavior for roosters!

plus, it has NOT got cold enough, where i live, for frostbite damage to his comb, plus last winter when i stilll owned him, even with frost bite on it..did not shrink his size of comb..any ideas? :0

I believe that hormone levels decrease during molting, and although rooster combs do not 'shrink' as much as those of hens some decrease in size can occur. Has the flock been monitored for internal parasites ?

Good question. I will have to ask. There is a flock of over hundred, plus a peacock and a pair of turkeys... I wouldn't rule out parasites. I may sound dumb, but, what can i tell my relative to do in regards to treatment of parasites?

About a month ago, his eyes or one eye was swollen shut. She had to treat it but the eyes are normal now not swollen or swollen shut.
